The Space Between

There's a strand of thought that says it's what's between the lines that counts. I've heard it said that Miles Davis was a genius because he played silences the way other people played notes. Similarly, it's sometimes said that certain kinds of silence say more than words ever could. And I like to think that focusing on the spaces of absence will add more meaning to our understanding of place. But what about when a blog client leaves gaps in one's posts? Last week it was Kerri and her frame alignments, this week it's me and the missing post. The post shows up here when I link to it from Bloglines but not when I visit Roto-blog directly. It's not even listed down there on the side.

hmmm, indeed. But not for the same reason.

Here's why: someone or something is making my posts default to draft mode rather than being published. So I am supposed to log in via Blogger in order to change the status from draft to published. Annoying. But I'm not going to fix it, nor even try. It's just another mark against Blogger. Particularly since it's been published anyway!
