Google for a program called SetBrowser, and use it to set Firefox as your default browser.

How do I make hyperlinks in email (Outlook Exp) open in Firefox rather than IE. Firefox is set as my default browser but is still doing it.

Hi andaba try going back into I/E and taking the tick out of the box tools/Internet Options/programs open firefox again and then make it your default browser. It should work OK then. Also right click on Start/Properties/customize and make FF your browser in there."

I don't know what Maxthon is, but my guess is that it's forcing itself on your system and probably needs to be uninstalled.
The only browser besides Firefox that's been installed on my system is IE6. Firefox is my default browser and Outlook my default mail client. Links in Outlook always open a Firefox window, and mailto: links in Firefox always open an Outlook window, so there's no conflict with Microsoft.
