The doll thing is about a clever and creative shopkeeper - who arranges various dolls in life-like social situations for the entertainment of passers-by. I have posted several snaps of these arrangements at eTwine - with the link below pointing to the first image, back in September.
I did suggest that people email the shopkeeper with suggestions for new dioramas, but to my knowledge nobody has tried.

answers lead to more questions! What exactly sort of shop is this person keeping? I long for the days of independent shops where displays as irreverent as this were the norm. Seems everything now (in America)is a huge chain store lorded over by a menecing district manager with no sense of humour and every display in every store is identical lest the travelling shopper become uneasy with unfamiliarity.

secondhand clothes - retro fashion. I'm sure you've seen them in one place or another. Any city with a boho neighbourhood will have them, like 2ndhand bookshops, record stores, funky art galleries, offbeat cafes...
